BROWNS DT PHIL TAYLOR ACCUSES RAVENS RB RAY RICE OF SPITTING ON HIM - Did Ray Rice cross over the line during Sunday’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns?
Rice and Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor got into each other’s faces after the Taylor tackled Rice for a 3-yard loss in the first quarter. When suddenly, Taylor smacked Rice on the side of the helmet, drawing a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
But what did Rice do to make Taylor risk getting that penalty? Well, according to Taylor, Rice spit on him.
“Look at the film, you will see … I’m not going to say,” Taylor told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “It is what it is. I need to keep my composure.”
However, Browns teammate D’Qwell Jackson wasn’t as restrained with his comments.
“I heard a guy scream he got spit on,” Jackson said. “If guys are spitting, that’s immature. That’s elementary. We’re all grown men. There’s no need to spit on a guy. I don’t know if it was Ray, but apparently someone got spit on.”
If Rice did spit on Taylor – and from the video I saw, yes he did – then that’s one of the biggest bush league moves in the world. Not just as a football player, but as a man. It’s bad enough to have to worry about being injured on Sunday’s, but that’s part of the game. But to have someone spit on you, that demoralizing to the fullest. (Photo: Associated Press)
